I´ve just startet to watch the movies in the english versions.
I think that most scenes are better in english than in german.
( in the half-blood prince trailer it sounds much better when harry say: Fight back, you coward! I like the english trailer
)

I really don't like the German versions of the film. I hate the voices: first an foremost Harrys voice in the third film!!
And there are some idioms and proverbs you can't translate exactly, so that they sound very strange in the German version. Or they have no rhyme, like it is in the 4th Film after the First task.
Thats the reason, why I only watch the films in German, when there is no other chance.

Of course it is much better to watch the original version of the movie, not only does it sound better but it is also dificult to translate some of the proverbs into german. Don´t you think that some sentences sound very strange in german?
And not to forget that the side effect of it is to improve your english.And in my opinion this is one of the main reasons to watch the movies in english.

I've watched some Parts of the Harry Potter movies in english.
I think the english versions are much better than the german, because they sounds better (the most time).
And the voice of Slughorn is in english much better than in german. (- Trailer)
I don't like the German voice of Slughron, but the english is very great!

Hey guys!
I prefer the originals, too, for the same reasons I've read in this threat:
the voices are so much better!
Also, I think some jokes you can just understand when they're in english- maybe because there is a lot of british humour in it.
Most important difference to me are the accents- I love the different british accents and I try to seperate them from one another.
In the german version there are no accents (except in part four for the french pupils or the ones from Durmstang).
Okay... Don't know what else to add...

Yeah I agree with all of you; the originals are better than the german ones
the german voices aren't the greatest choices and before I started to watch the movies in english the german-Dan annoyed me alot! He sounds so... so uninterested and weary that I actually thought that Dan himself had poor acting skills and then I watched the fith movie in english and I was like: Woah! Amazing he CAN actually act! From then on I stuck with the english versions (and not just in the case of Harry Potter but also with every movie avaiable in english even ROMEO & JULIET [that one was pretty... interesting
])
And I also like the english language better than the german one (neither one is my mother tongue so I can judge without prejudice) because german seems always so... so tense and... i dunno... more complicated than needed, maybe...
English jokes are even funnier and i like the different accents that appear in the movies... In the german versions they are completely missig... except for the french ones and I think Hagrid has a bit of an accent too, doesn't he? (I can't remember it's a long time ago since I last watched a Potter in german)
In summary: I totally prefer the originals
(in both: movie AND books)

I watch almost all movies in the original version, not only Harry Potter!!!
And yes, the english version is much better than the german one!!!
Because of the translation, the original voices (especially Snape!!!
)!!!

The original versions are so much better - no question!
It's so stupid when you can read the original language from the actor's lips while they speak German!
However, I do not like the accent of the original Dumbledore. Especially when he cries "Paaddrr" instead of a decent "Potter" in the Goblet movie (when Harry's name is selected from the Goblet of Fire). Yak!

The OV are definitely better. There are still jokes which can not be translated and as the German language need more words to get the message across they sometimes had to cut away things. As the spoken words do also have in the main go with the lip movements they also have to change some information a bit. Moreover I do love the British accent and some actors have a wonderful British accent.
