The Movies in Original Version |
|
Hello!
I thougt, this forum would need some new stuff to dicuss, so I open
this thread now. What do you think about the Harry Potter films in
the original version? Are they better than the german ones? And if yes,
why do you think they're better?
Greetings
Padma

Oh, good thinking!
I think they're better because there are some jokes you just can't translate, then the voices sound better especially in the 2nd film and I think it fits into the atmosphere so much better than the German versions. And I just love this British accent!!
And after all it' s a good opportunity to practice listening comprehension.

Sound of the Original Version Better? There is nothing to discuss. It´s Normal that the O-Versions are already better. The best way, to find it out, is really the second Movie! Take the Part of the Obelisc, who speaks to Harry in the School. In the German Version, it sound like only a whisper. But in the O-Version, they had made very much with them. It´s much more Mistery, and Dangerously in them. And in the Chamber, the Obelisc Speaks a little bit normal. But in the O-Version, ist sounds like the Obelisc is Speaking with two or more Voices together.

The original versions are definetly better. That's out of question, I think. By translating the movies many many things were getting lost, as already said, the basilic's voice for example.
And many things just sound better in English than in German.

I guess you could compare it to the English books as well, some kind of. Both are definitely better in the original version, 'cause in every language there are things, like jokes for example, that you just cannot translate like that.
And - oh yes!- the voices... Well, the best example is Hermione! In the English films she sounds a little bit arrogant... or was it the german movie... doesn't matter, well, I'm not really sure... in one of the languages, don't know whether it is the German or the English one she sounds arrogant in some way and in the other she doesn't.
Hope you know what I mean...

@Karo: Yes, I think I know what you mean...
I think that the english films are really much much better than the german ones. The voices are mcuh better and they fit the actors more than the germans do.
Best example is Harry. In the german films he sounds like a little kid and in the english ones he sounds older.

Oh yes, Padma, this is an excellent example! This is one of the things that are really driving me crazy! I mean: If you watched the movie with eyes closed, you would think that Harry is... I don't know... 8 years old...

@Karo Blueice: Funny
, but you're right! And last week I heard, that they didn't change the syncro for Harry in the third film. It's still this kid-voice. I still know, that I won't like the german film....

I watched the german version of hp2 before the english one and I was pretty shocked about the original voices at first *lol* but later I noticed that daniel sounds in english angrier...that's what I always hated, Harry sounds so...so unharrylike and unemotional in german...shame on the synchro guy!

I can only agree sugababe. The german synchro guy doesn't fit Harry Potter. The voice is definitely too young for Harry.

Wuah, I really hate Harry's german voice...
Bad choice...
And what do you think about Ron?
I think Ron's german Voice is terrible, too...
In the Original I love his squeaky Voice

@Chiyo: That's the right word for Ron's voice in german: squeaky
I don't like that voice, too. It's so childish...
