I think the english ones are better than the german ones.
for first, the voises sound much more better, and you really can see how good the actors play because it's their real voice, and I think the voise means and shows a lot.
And there are some jokes that are difficult to translate (but I think that must have said somebody before).
Well, that was my point of few for first

The original versions are better because I can learn English by watching them! It's funny to compare the voices with the German ones.
Some jokes are better in the originals, but I guess it is difficult to translate them one by one, because it wouldn't be funny in German.
Oh, and
YES!

Especially the word-plays (or how theyre called
) cant be translated. The voices dont make them better because some german voices are better than the originals and vice versa.

yeah, however I think that this doesn't matter in Films like Harry Potter. the humour in this movies is not exactly based on puns (I think that's the word you were looking for). In fact, the only pun I noticed was the "ridiculous" one.
The voices are in most cases pretty cool. Snape is as adequate in German as in English in my opinion. Like I said, only Ron's voice sucks.

I've never watched the original versions because I don't have them on DVD... But if I have too much money, I will buy the first 2 films on DVD
I like their voices very much and I'm excited to see the 3rd film on dvd in english

I think the first two movies are quite cheap nowadays. ..and this is due to the movie piracy on the internet...if you go to Megastores like Saturn or Media Markt you'll surely get each for under 10 €....

well guys, what a question...me being a complete and unchangeable english-freak,even about to study this gorgeous language, can´t say but "yes,OV is ALWAYS better"
! in my view, every single emotion seems way more intense in the OV for they are originally perfected and unspoiled, whereas in the translated and synchronizised version the actors try desperately to achieve the same effect, but honestly, let´s face it:it just ain´t no good...that´s why i´ll keep watching every movie in the OV,if anyhow possible (so:like i said in my "hello-here-i-am-thread:bless the DVD-inventor :top

When I have watchet the second film in the german version I was so mad that Daniel has already this childish germen voice from Tim Schawrzberger (or wather ever he's called),because in the english version he's got a more darker voice.
But with the 3.Movie,the german voices became better and similar with the english voices.^^

But I think the strange thing, is that not only the young actors, but although the older actors, for example Mr Weasly have voices like 6-years old girls!!!!!

Yeah, I think the best scene to show this is when Ron asked:
"Can we panic now?"
And Snape's voice...well, not to mention how difficult it is to do Alan Rickman in german, though the new one is all right I think. Does anybody remember the very first german Snape-voice? In the first german trailer for the Philosophers Stone?
like a gay
I think, too, that Professor McGonagall's voice is much better in english - or better - in scottish, that's the thing I'm missing with the german McGonagall.
And of course some gags aren't as good as in english - they'll never be

I always watch the HP films in English and I've got all the books only in English. I think it's a shame how they mess up the whole text when they dub these movies.
And hey, this is a British story after all, isn't it?
